PENTICTON, BC: After coming up one spot short of a win on two consecutive nights to start the 2025 Northwest Sprint Tour season, Jeff Montgomery Racing “The Hurricane” scored his first Northwest Sprint Tour main event win of 2025 at Penticton Speedway‘s Open Wheel Extravaganza.
Darren Yates and Troy Globe would lead the field to the green flag for the 50 lap main event at the tight quarter mile. Yates would jump out to an early lead before being pressured early by Ryan Willison, with Ron Larson also challenging at the point early. The yellow would come out on lap eight for Brad Aumen, who lost a power steering line and was forced to end his race early.
On the ensuing restart Yates would hold the lead, with Aaron Willison putting on the pressure behind, passing Larson for second before taking the lead around lap 30. Willison would then suffer a flat left front tire after contact with a lap car, before Ron Larson would end up in the front stretch wall on lap 34. Willison would have to change the tire, forcing him to the tail end of the field. On the ensuing restart Montgomery would jump out in front of Darren Yates and would not be denied for the rest of the main event.
