The Northwest Sprint Tour continues its 2025 season this weekend at the picturesque Penticton Speedway in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada. This weekend marks the fourth visit by the series to the west coast’s fastest 1/4 mile oval, a mark set by Aaron Willison last year with a 10.511 in qualifying.

Willison is still yet to win in 2025, with the driver of the Rendle Willison Racing 14 coming tantalizingly close on two occasions this season, with Willison bowing out of contention in both the Can/Am Shootout at Evergreen Speedway and the Sneva Memorial at Mode Stadium Stateline Speedway after making contact while fighting for the lead. Last weekend Willison managed to rally back to finish fifth, moving him to second in points behind Jeff Montgomery.

Montgomery is also still looking for his first win of 2025, with the Rob Leighton Motorsports 33J having two straight second place runs so far in 2025 in addition to a new Evergreen Speedway track record. Montgomery suffered a slow leak in the left rear tire at Stateline which foiled his chance at running down eventual race winner Ron Larson, but will be looking to move to the top step of the podium this weekend.

Speaking of Ron Larson, the veteran racer from Quesnel, BC put aside some of the bad luck that has been dogging him for the past few years and scored his first NST win since the series’ inaugural race back in May of 2022 at Saratoga Speedway. Larson will look to carry that momentum into Penticton after missing last year’s race due to a prior family commitment.

In addition to Willison, Montgomery and Larson, a strong contingent of US and Canadian racers are expected for the event which is co-sanctioned with the Inland Winged Sprint Cars.

Gates open for the Open Wheel Extravaganza at 4:30 PM with racing starting at 6:00 PM.

There will be a Friday practice for all Northwest Sprint Tour teams from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
