Granite Cup returns to Evergreen Speedway this weekend with NST

The Northwest Sprint Tour continues its 2025 season this Saturday night at Evergreen Speedway for the second annual Granite Cup. The event is the biggest of the season at the fast 3/8ths-of-a-mile oval, with $10,000 on the line for the main event winner and $1,000-to-start the main event.

Last year Aaron Willison dominated the race, leading all 50 laps on his way to victory and nearly lapping the field in the process. The Langley, British Columbia based racer has been hard at work this weekend trying to repair his Rendle Willison Racing 14 car after crashing out of last week’s NST race at Agassiz Speedway. Willison did take out the win last week on the other side of the country at Sandusky Speedway for the Bob Frey Classic, and will be looking for his third main event win of the season come Saturday.

Jeff Montgomery set the track record at Evergreen last time the NST was in town on May 10th for the Can/Am Shootout, laying down a sizzling 12.713. Montgomery finished second to Evan Margeson in the main event and will attempt to score his second career win on the 3/8ths at Evergreen this weekend.

Speaking of Evan Margeson, the Tacoma based racer will return to the sight of his lone Sprint Car main event win so far in 2025. Margeson last ran at Colorado National Speedway for their Independence Day Long Weekend event, managing a top ten run on Saturday after fighting mechanical issues on the Friday portion of the event.

Brad Aumen is the most recent Northwest Sprint Tour main event winner, with the Chemainus, British Columbia based racer earning his first main event win since 2022 last weekend at Agassiz Speedway. The Island Racemasters 44B lead nearly every lap of the main event after starting fourth. The 2022 NST champ was strong in May at the Can/Am Shootout, with Aumen looking to improve on his fourth place run.

In addition to Willison, Montgomery, Margeson and Aumen, a field of over 20 cars is expected for one of the Northwest’s highest paying pavement Sprint Car races.

Fans can get their tickets now at evergreenspeedway.com or at the box office on race night.
