Montgomery leads Northwest Sprint Tour into Saratoga Speedway
One of the fastest weekends of the season comes to Saratoga Speedway Friday and Saturday July 11th-12th.
The Northwest Sprint Tour Winged Sprint Cars return to SMP this weekend for the Quinsam Communications Sprint Car Classic. Winged Sprint Cars are the fastest type of car in short track racing, with over 800 horsepower and reaching speeds approaching 200 kilometres-per-hour.
Langford BC’s Jeff Montgomery currently leads the NST point standings and comes into the event as the most recent winner on the tour after claiming his first main event win of the season at Penticton Speedway in June. The 33J team leads Saratoga Speedway track record holder Aaron Willison in the standings. Willison comes into Saratoga Speedway on the strength of back-to-back second place runs at Colorado National Speedway just outside of Denver last weekend.
The Langley BC based racer is uncharacteristically looking for his first win of the season after being involved in multiple incidents that derailed potential wins earlier in the season. Last year Willison won the second night of the Quinsam Communications Sprint Car Classic and would go on to sweep the Neil Montgomery Memorial weekend later on in August.
Also in attendance will be 2022 NST champ Brad Aumen, 2024 NST runner-up James Miller, Ryan Willison, Idaho’s Willy Ginn and more for both days.
Gates open for both nights of the Quinsam Communications Group Sprint Car Classic at 4:00 pm with qualifying at 4:45 pm and opening ceremonies at 6:00 pm.
