Monroe, WA – After a two week break the Northwest Sprint Tour was back in action for the $10,000-to-win Granite Cup at Evergreen Speedway.
19 cars signed in for the event, with two cars scratching from the race following hot laps (Kyle Alberding and Marty Rosler).
Aaron Willison kept his quick-time streak alive in qualifying, running a 12.837 to place himself in front of the field. Willison would draw a 10 pill for the inversion, placing him on the outside of row five for the 50 lap main event.
Heat race wins would go to Daryle Redlin and Willy Ginn, with the field set for the Granite Cup main event.
Sawyer Lind would have pole position for the main but lost a right rear tire going into turn one, spinning in front of the field before being collected by Daryle Redlin. Jeff Montgomery would also catch a piece of the incident putting those three drivers out of the race on lap one.
On the restart Cody Ridge would jump out in front of Randy Price, with Ridge leading the next 12 laps before Willison, who took advantage of the restart to pick up multiple positions, would take command.
On lap 15 Darren Yates would spin in turn two to bring out the only other yellow on the night. Willison would jump out in front of Evan Margeson, with the two drivers running until the finish in that order.
Willison would cruise to his sixth win in seven races, with Margeson, Stewart Lee, Cody Ridge and Brad Aumen rounding out the top five.
